Perfume Decants UK: Try Before You Commit

Perfume Decants UK — Try It Before You Buy the Full Bottle

Some of these fragrances are brilliant. Some of them are polarising. And a lot of the time, the only way to know which camp you're in is to actually wear it — not read about it.

That's the whole point of a decant. A proper 5ml pour, taken from the same bottle we sell at full size, for £5.99. Enough to wear it three or four times, see how it settles on your skin, and decide before you commit £30-plus to a full bottle you might not reach for again.

Why we started doing this

Club De Nuit Intense Man is the fragrance that built this shop — and it's still divisive. Some people get it immediately. Others find it too aggressive on first spray and need a few wears to come round to it. A handful of our Maison Asrar fragrances are the same story, just with a different set of notes people either love or don't. A decant takes the gamble out. You're not buying blind, and you're not paying full price to find out.

Armaf Club De Nuit decants — £5.99, 5ml

Maison Asrar decants — £5.99, 5ml

These three are genuinely not safe blind buys, which is exactly why we'd rather you try 5ml first:

  • Vanilla Voyage — not a straightforward sweet vanilla. It's polarising: some people get a beautiful warm gourmand, others catch something closer to burnt sugar or liquorice on first spray. It also matures — a bottle that's sat and macerated for a few weeks wears noticeably better than fresh-poured. A decant lets you judge it fairly without gambling on a full bottle.
  • Vanilla Aura — don't expect a sweeter version of Voyage. This is bolder and spicier — root beer float, roasted marshmallow, incense — not a creamy dessert scent. If you're after straightforward sweetness, this isn't it, and that's worth knowing before you buy 100ml.
  • III Thriller — a harsh, peppery saffron opening that mellows into a genuinely lovely woody leather-vanilla dry down. The opening puts some people off entirely. If you can get past the first twenty minutes, it's one of the best in the range — but that's a big "if" to ask someone to take on faith at full price.

How to use a decant properly

Wear it for a full day, not just a spray on your wrist in the shop. Fragrance changes over hours — what you smell in the first ten minutes isn't what you'll smell at hour six. For Vanilla Voyage and III Thriller especially, give it more than one wear before deciding — both change character as they settle.

FAQ

Are these genuine stock, not a knockoff in a smaller bottle?
Yes — every decant is poured from the same authorised stock as our full-size bottles, Armaf and Maison Asrar alike.

Can I buy just the decant without committing to a bigger size later?
Absolutely. No obligation — plenty of people just collect a few decants to build a rotation.

Do decants perform the same as the full bottle?
Yes, identical fragrance, just a smaller volume — same longevity and projection.

Which one should I start with if I've never tried Club De Nuit?
Club De Nuit Sillage is the easiest entry point. If you want the flagship, Intense Man — wear it a full day before judging it.

Is Vanilla Aura sweeter than Vanilla Voyage?
No — it's the opposite. Aura is spicier and smokier, not a sweeter twin. If you loved Voyage for its sweetness, try Aura in a decant before assuming it'll be more of the same.
